Biochemistry Glyphosate inhibits 5-enolpyruvylshikimate-3-phosphate synthase (EPSPS), an enzyme of the aromatic acid biosynthetic pathway. Glyphosate prevents synthesis of essential aromatic amino acids needed for protein biosynthesis.
