USB Drive operates as a secure, reliable, removable disk, using a standard Universal Serial Bus (USB) device interface.  A computer immediately detects it, recognizing it as a supplementary removable disk and assigning it a drive letter. 



The 1.1 USB Drive, or Basic Speed USB Drive, complies with the original specification developed for USB and offers data transfer rates.  The 2.0 USB Drive, also known as High Speed USB Drive, as well as backward compatibility with existing USB 1.1 ports.



A new series of mini-B and mini-A cable are designed for portable applications such as digital cameras, MP3 and PDAs. The new miniature series is fully compliant with current USB 2.0 specification, which enables speeds up to 480 Mbps.



The new mini-A and mini-B design includes five circuits, with one circuit reserved for future use in host identification between devices.
