Sertaconazole has different mechanisms of action: Fungistatic, fungicidal, antibacterial, antiinflammatory, antitrichomonal, antipruritic actions. It inhibits, like other imidazole antifungals, the synthesis of ergosterol by inhibiting the 14α-demethylase enzyme. Ergosterol is a component of the fungal cell membrane.
