Raw salt ( Edible)
Tha salt is produced in the farms near sea shore by solar evaportion of sea water & manually harvested in India . Sea water is pumped from a creek or bore wells. The crystel sizevaries between 0.5 to 5.0 mm on an avg. Most of the villagers & trebles eat this salt. As per recent regulations this salt is iodized before marketing for edible purpose.

Raw salt ( industrial)
The salt is rain washed raw salt having reduced impurities of Calcium & magnesium. Where rainfall is not sufficient artificial washing is carried out. The salt is being mainly in caustic Soda / Chlorine production in India & abroad.

Refined salt
The above raw salt is processed to remove all physical impurities & some dissolved impurities. It is also crushed , decanted, centrifuges, iodized, dried, coated with anti clogging compounds & sieved for uniform particle size. Normally size preffered is 0.5 to 0.9 mm. This edible salt is used in cities & developed areas.

Pharma grade salt
This grade is super-refined evaporated salt prepared from one of the above refined grade salt. The refined salt is dissolved & chemical treatment followed by other physical operations are carried out . In our country this salt as pharma grade salt in formulation , preparation of saline, laboratory reagent etc.

Low sodium salt
This salt for a selected group. It is low sodium salt with potassium content. People having high BP & other heart ailment reduce the salt intake because excess of sodium gets deposited in the blood veins. The production of sodium is balanced in such a wzy that people need not reduce the intake of salt & at the same time they get a mineral which is good ffor the functioning of heart. The salt is prepared from refined of above grade.
