Many of today's traffic engineers seem to have two vital misconceptions perhaps inherited from the era of horse driven coaches: Firstly, they put such a high priority to automobiles as the coaches had in their days. Secondly, they believe that they can build their road system so as to accommodate traffic no matter what the volume may be. The worldwide problems of traffic congestion and air pollution demonstrate that they are wrong.
We at Teritek try to bring new concepts into the traffic engineering. Most importantly, the urban streets should be designed for the buses to flow with the absolute priority. The street network designed in this principal will allow more open space in urban areas, and perhaps in many cases negate the requirement for the expensive subways. This has been proved to some degree in Curitiba, Brazil.
