Firstly, there is no hair to be removed from the skins. This means there isn't any need for lime or acid in the tanning process which is the most destructive tanning chemical to be discarded back to our fresh water resources.

Secondly, all skins are taken from canneries which are processing the fish for food. This cuts down on the amount of waste at the cannery because the skins are normally discarded. With the purchase of this product you help stop the use of endangered species for consumer leather goods.
