we are Egyptian International Trade Point we have a company called Egyptalum co. in 1972 a scheme was initiated on the banks of the river Nile which was to culminate in the completion of one of the most exciting developments to rise from the desert in centuries.
Egyptalum’s aluminium plant situated at Nag Hammady, some 100 kilometres North from Luxor has come to represent a commitment to investment in the future which reflects the philosophy of Egypt itself.
Nag Hammady is unique in several ways. The development has risen from the barren desert, to realise one of the most technologically advanced sites of its kind. Also a city has been established alongside the plant to provide every amenity from hospitals to stadiums, to housing set in tree-lined avenues.
Harmony - Egypt is making great strides. The philosophy is to encourage the benefits of local involvement. Training local people using the world’s expertise.

Smelter
Egyptalum’s primary smelter currently produces around 180,000 tpy, but the company plans to raise this to 300,000 tpy by the year 2000. The first stage of the expansion, an additional pre-bake line with 92 pots which will raise capacity by 55,000 tpy, was started in July 1995 and is scheduled to come on line in 1997. A parallel upgrade project involves the modification of the smelter’s existing Soderberg lines to pre-baked technology, increasing production capacity to around 245,000 tpy and improving environmental factors. A possible future expansion to 350,000 tpy by the year 2005 with the addition of a seventh potline is also being considered.

Cast Houses
Considerable investments have been made to the Cast facilities to compliment those made to the Smelter. A new state-of-the-art filtration system has been installed together with a complete upgrade of the Cast House, providing the highest quality of purity, security of supply and with the capability of meeting future capacity requirements.
